Grease Fittings & Grease Nipples

UMETA grease fitting (grease nipple)

UMETA manufactures grease fittings in Germany. In the USA they are also called grease nipples, zerk fittings or lubrication fittings — the job is the same: a grease gun delivers lubricant through the fitting to bearings, joints, shafts and axles without dismantling the assembly.

DIN 71412 and SAE versions

UMETA offers grease fittings to DIN 71412 and to SAE, in many designs and thread variants. Thread forms that look similar are not interchangeable, so always match the exact thread designation of the lubrication point.

Common designs

  • Hydraulic-type (taper) fittings for general machinery and higher pressure requirements
  • Ball-type fittings
  • Flush-type fittings for tight installation spaces
  • Button-head and bayonet fittings
  • Drive-in fittings, which should only be lubricated with a hydraulic nozzle

Materials

The standard version is zinc-plated steel. Stainless steel and brass versions are also available, and lead-free fittings can be supplied on request.

Check valve protection

Many versions have an integrated check valve. It protects the lubrication point against dirt and moisture and keeps grease from escaping uncontrolled.

Accessories

Matching protective caps, a drive-in tool, nozzles and couplers connect the fitting to your grease gun.

Choosing the right fitting

  • Thread designation and standard (DIN or SAE)
  • Design and angle needed for access
  • Material for the operating environment
  • Nozzle or coupler used on your grease gun
